Mitchell & Rachelle–Panorama Resort Wedding:

Mitchelle and Rachelle had their wedding at beautiful Panorama Resort last summer.  The highlights included a phenomenal dress, a wonderful location, a beautiful couple and an incredible party.  We also brought the photo booth to their wedding which I will be blogging about later in a separate post.  First I should tell you about the location, which was at the Panorama resort in BC.  It’s gorgeous.  If you haven’t been there before you really should.  It’s a secluded little resort nestled in the mountains of my favourite province.  This little village is probably best known for golf and skiing but it’s a wonderful place to host a wedding as well.

Having a Panorama Resort wedding meant that everywhere you walked to you’d bump into other guests at the wedding.  We quickly got to meet some of Mitchell and Rachelle’s family simply by walking around and checking out the place.  Another thing I really enjoyed about this wedding was having natural sunlight at the reception.  I adore weddings that have wide open windows so the light can pour in during the reception.  It really adds a nice dimension to the images.

In addition to all that they had a really lively party.  I don’t think I saw anyone sitting down.  There was a lot of dancing and a line-up for our photo booth for most of the night!

Baby Nora-Edmonton Baby Photographer JAG Photography

A couple of my prior clients, Peter & Teigan, have a beautiful baby girl named Nora.  After photographing their wedding I became good friends with Peter & Teigan and I’m so happy to have photographed their baby in Edmonton.  Normally I only do wedding photography but I’ve recently started to do family photography.  I’d love to meet your family to so sign up for your own family session by clicking here.

Yousif & Patrizia-Lebanon Wedding.

Looking back at these photos I can hear laughter and I can smell food and I can feel heat.  I’ve never travelled to the middle east before so when my cousin Yousif announced that him and his soon to be bride Patrizia were getting married there, I was both honoured and excited to photograph their wedding.   I had heard that Lebanon was a beautiful country but I didn’t really have a sense of how much beauty it had until this trip.

First there’s the food which for a foodie like me was a real treat.  I can’t remember any other wedding that had anything like this.  Every table had fresh fruits and small plate dishes that had so much flavour.  It was a feast.  Then there was the mountain scenery, the historic buildings, the sunset over the mediterranean.  Everywhere you looked there was something else your eyes wanted to pour over.  Every alley and sign made you certain you were in an exotic land.   Above all, the culture that Lebanon has makes it enough to earn it’s reputation as the Paris of the middle east.  It seemed like people always had something to celebrate about with nightly get togethers.  And if that didn’t do it, the temperature certainly did.  At night time the air was over thirty degrees!

My first few days in Lebanon where spent meeting Patrizia’s family and friends and taking in the new sights.  Their wedding had many celebrations starting with a party at a restaurant overlooking a cliff with breathtaking views.  The next morning their lovely wedding ceremony took place at Our Lady of the Rosary church at the very top of the city.  They had an outdoor reception complete with live performances and fireworks.  On the last day, the three of us along with one of Patty’s friends, Yasmin, took to the streets of Beirut and did portraits around downtown ending the night with walk into the cool sea.  I uploaded a little gif from a series of shots I took when they were trying to avoid falling into the water and a wave pulled them in.

Sometimes it feels completely unreal that my camera has taken me to places like this.

Yousif & Patrizia-Lebanon Wedding.

Drumheller Wedding Photography:

I met Mariessa through a good friend of mine Ashley Jackson who is now a wedding photographer herself in Red Deer.  Ashley and Mariesa are longtime besties but she  couldn’t photograph Mariesa’s wedding because she was in the bridal party and mega pregnant.  That’s where I came in to the picture (pun intended).  Geoff and Mariesa’s wedding was in Drumheller, Alberta in Dinosaur provincial park.  It was such a unique backdrop for a wedding and I loved shooting in the desert.

Shal and Sue’s wedding took place at the Mariott harbour front hotel in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. The first time I had been to Halifax was when I photographed Sue’s sister’s wedding, Jasleen.  It’s a beautiful area and I couldn’t wait to come back.  Not just because of the area itself though, more because I wanted to see their family again.  Since Indian weddings are usually a multi-day event I really got to know most of their family and it felt like I was visiting friends.  I think that’s what I love most about photographing Indian weddings.  The time spent getting to know their families is really something I value and I enjoy.

Sue is logical, responsible and very smart, not to mention beautiful.  During the year leading up to the wedding she moved, bought a home and graduated from medical school.  Shal is a graphic artist with an addiction to bacon.  Between the two of them they have a really fun group of friends that I got to party with for the better part of a week.

After their ceremony, we all hopped aboard an original tall ship for portraits and a cruise around the harbour.  Afterwards we took pictures around much of the downtown scenery.  Much more partying later their reception was filled with a great vibe and lots of nice uplighting.  It was one of those weddings where I can just feel that it’ll be an amazing evening and I wasn’t disappointed.  Knowing from Jasleen’s wedding previously how much this family likes to dance I was expecting a late party.  Little did I know that it wouldn’t be until sunrise when the festivities would come to an end.

Shal and Sue now live on the other side of the country in Vancouver and will hopefully have a dog (or cat) someday soon.

I created this blog post with a nifty new photoshop script called Storyboard by Code & Hustle.  I got a bit carried away and included hundreds of photos.  Usually I’m much more of a minimalist.
