About Jasser Abu-Giemi
Jasser Abu-Giemi is a wedding photographer based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Jasser specializes in modern, urban photography. Unlike many other wedding
photographers, Jasser won't simply run you through the standard poses to fill up your
photo album. His aim is to help you tell the story of your wedding.
As a self-taught photographer, Jasser Abu-Giemi has developed a unique vision that sets
JAG Photography apart from the competition.
When he's not behind the camera, Jasser takes advantage of urban living—relaxing over
a cup of Starbucks coffee or hanging out with friends at a local restaurant. These things,
along with the technology, culture, and architecture of urban environments all help to
inspire Jasser's photography.
For Jasser, wedding photography is ultimately about people. By getting to know his
clients, he is able to capture their true personalities and tell the story of each couple he
photographs.

This past November I was accepted as a member of the esteemed wedding photojournalist association. The WPJA is “an International, membership-based organization representing professional photographers skilled in the documentation of weddings and events in a candid, unobtrusive style.”
Every quarter-year, they hold an international competition in a variety of categories and I’m very happy to announce that I earned 6th place for the Creative Portraits category from a portrait of Unaizah this past August.
I distinctly remember taking this image of Unaizah before her reception. We literally had minutes left on the clock before they were due. We went to the kinsmen park and used the cement pillars at the base of the High Level bridge as our backdrop. The light was perfect and I fell in love for the shadows on the bridge and the cracks in the cement. I remember seeing the thrill on Unaizah’s face when she looked at the LCD display on the back of the camera. I think the picture was well worth being just a little bit late.
January 16, 2010 - 7:39 pm - Great portrait Jasser. The lighting IS perfect and the picture has emotion. I love the texture of the wall behind it too.
January 28, 2010 - 10:44 am - Congrats! Well deserved, your photography is amazing. You definatly submited a winner!
February 12, 2010 - 5:44 pm - oh yeah, absolutely beautiful! Congratulations!
Alex and Michelle met me after they saw a few pictures I took at a friends wedding when I first started my company. I was ecstatic when they hired me to photograph their wedding in Vardero, Cuba. Alex & Michelle, the confidence that you both had in me is something I’ll always cherish. Here’s a few of the pictures from their beautiful wedding.

I had a wonderful time in Cuba shooting Michelle and Alex’s wedding which I will post very soon. I wanted to share with you all some pictures from my old yashica mat 124. It’s totally 100% manual. The built in light meter (revolutionary at the time) is now kaput so a lot of the images I took where by trial and error. The only time I ever use it is for street portraits whenever I travel. It fit in wonderfully in Cuba.
For any photographers out there that haven’t travelled to this beautiful country I recommend making a trip. It’s well worth it. The people and the streets are what really make the country fun to observe. Unlike here in North America, the people there live their lives on the streets. Everywhere you look people are greeting their neighbours, playing card games, and just enjoying each others company. Even their school lessons occur out doors.

November 19, 2009 - 2:05 am - These are AWESOME! I love the schoolkids, and the sleepy doggie!
November 25, 2009 - 11:19 am - Your portraits are always so amazing.
January 26, 2010 - 10:50 pm - Jasser these images are STUNNING!!!!! I felt like I was there when these images were captured! so true to life! love itT!
I’m on my way to Alex and Michelle’s wedding in Cuba. I’ll be away from November 9th to 16th.

Peter & Teigan are getting married next September at the Greek Orthodox Church. My family is Egyptian (Coptic) orthodox but this will be first orthodox wedding as a photographer. I’m incredibly excited because P & T are so much fun to hangout with. Here’s a few shots from their engagement session this weekend.

Dave proposed to Isabelle in beautiful Santorini, Greece. Their beautiful wedding is set to take place next June at the Fairmont in Edmonton. I’m extra pumped for this wedding because it’s my first one at that hotel and plus I get to hangout again with Dave and Isabelle.
When we first started off both of them insisted that they were NOT comfortable in front of cameras. I call bullshit. They were naturals!

October 5, 2009 - 12:17 am - I'm in love with the neon sign ones. Amazing as usual Jasser!
Words can’t express the love that Robert & Danica share. When I first met them they were completely giddy. Since then every time I’ve seen them they just giggle and laugh together all the time. When they’re around their friends and family, that laughter hits high gear. It was really wonderful to meet you both and I’m mega looking forward to hanging out together again in the spring.

October 10, 2009 - 12:33 am - love the bride alone in front of the aqua wall, and that last one is STEAMY!!
October 11, 2009 - 8:51 pm - These photos are awesome. Good work Jasser. Keep it up man!
Anthony & Allison are new puppy parents. I never got to meet their cute little dog and it’s probably for the best because she’s a basset hound and we all know how squishy they are.

October 5, 2009 - 9:12 pm - Love Allison and Anthony's engagement pics! They have such a cute loving character towards each other, and it's so nice to see that in the pics.
Andrew and Janice were one of the very first clients to hire me. Thanks guys for the confidence that you had in me and for trusting me with your day.
